The MySwimPro Team recently competed in the 19th Annual Motor City Mile open water swim race!

2018 Highlight Video

The Motor City Mile is an annual open water swim and charity event hosted by Different Strokes Swim Shop. It continues to be one of the largest open water swim events in the Midwest. We are excited to see this race grow, as next year it will be an official Swim Across America event!

Giving Back to The Community

In Michigan, there are very few ways for swimmers to give back to the community while showcasing their swimmer identity. The idea behind the Motor City Mile was to provide swimmers the opportunity to give back while having fun doing what they love! The 2018 Motor City Mile partnered with To Detroit, With Love and benefited the ALS Association.

The Race offers a 1/2 mile, 1 mile or 5K swim, and hundreds of swimmers participate every year! There is a course set up by buoys in the Detroit River for the events and the Belle Isle Beach serves as a start and finish for all races.

MySwimPro is proudly represented at this race every year and enjoys competing and spending some time with MySwimPro Community Members. Check out our photos below!

Race Recap

This year was the first year in the history of the race that we experienced some weather issues. We had a short rain delay, but that meant we had some time to hang out on the beach with the other swimmers!

Adam Oxner, our iOS Developer and Co-Founder had a great performance competing in the Masters division.

The water was warm, and the wind was very calm which made for a great open water course!

Mike, Paige and Adam all competed in the Masters division for the 1 mile swim.

Michael Allon, our Android Developer & Co-Founder did an amazing job at his first open water swim race! Mike has been swimming consistently 4-5 days a week, and has dropped so much time in his freestyle–he is killin’ it!

Our Marketing Director, Paige Walters enjoyed spending time outdoors and swimming in the Detroit River! She placed 3rd in the Women’s Masters Division.
