MySwimPro Gives Back on #GivingTuesday

At MySwimPro, we’re passionate about growing the sport of swimming and helping people of all levels achieve their goals. Our mantra is to empower aquatic prowess across the globe. We believe that with structured guidance, community, data and feedback, we can empower swimmers around the world to achieve their dreams.

We are democratizing the sport of swimming by providing the opportunity to help swimmers achieve their goals in a way that’s never been possible before. This year, we hosted World Swim Day, an international campaign that empowers people around the world to be more active through swimming. The day promotes living a healthy lifestyle through swimming and also raises awareness for the importance of water safety around the world.

On October 27, 2018, swimmers from over 100 countries joined us for a virtual community workout and shared passion for the water. You can checkout the hashtag #WorldSwimDay on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to see the amazing stories swimmers were sharing. After World Swim Day, we held a fundraiser for three amazing non-profit organizations that are helping teach people how to swim. All the proceeds from the sale of our MySwimPro World Swim Day swag bundle would go towards these charities.

The three organizations below each received a $300 donation from MySwimPro from the money raised after the first #WorldSwimDay in 2018.

Detroit Swims

Started by lifeguards at the downtown Detroit Boll Family YMCA in 2010, Detroit Swims was created to address the alarming fact that 7 out of 10 children in Detroit can not swim. The Boll Family YMCA is next door to the MySwimPro Detroit office and this is an aquatic center we regularly swim at. To date, the program has taught over 5,000 children in the City of Detroit how to swim.

The USA Swimming Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of USA Swimming. The Foundation works to strengthen the sport by saving lives and building champions -in the pool and in life. Whether equipping our children with the life-saving skill of learn-to-swim through our Make a Splash initiative, or providing financial support to our heroes on the U.S. National Team, the USA Swimming Foundation aims to provide the wonderful experience of swimming to kids at all levels across the United States.

USMS Swimming Saves Lives Foundation

There are more than 18 million swimming pools and hot tubs in the United States, but more than one-third of adults in the United States can’t swim the length of a pool, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The USMS Swimming Saves Lives Foundation works hard to reduce these risks by serving as a financial and educational resource for programs nationwide that provide adult learn-to-swim lessons. Since 2012, SSLF has awarded more than $550,000 in grants to adult learn-to-swim providers and programs.
