Meet Brian Young:

Brian lives in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is married to his wife, Marla, and has three young boys – Ari, Levi, and Sammy. Brian spent his childhood and high school years swimming competitively and playing lots of sports in Michigan.

Now in his 40s, Brian still continues to swim regularly. He says, “Swimming was always a sport I could come back to when I wanted to get fit or give my body a break from the weight-bearing stresses of other sports. It’s like riding a bicycle, you never forget how to do it.”

In the last 7 years, Brian has really ramped up his triathlon training and has been competing regularly in races all around the country. Because he’s been a strong swimmer for most of his life, triathlon was a relatively easy transition for him and presented a fun new way to challenge himself physically.

Brian has been an awesome member of our Ambassador team. He is passionate about inspiring people to swim more, helping them optimize their training and swimming with his sons!

The MySwimPro and Strava apps have been critical components of his swim training. Read how he uses both apps in this article.

His advice? “Consistency is key. It’s better to swim frequently for a short distance than swimming longer distances infrequently.”
