Ariarne Titmus’s Coach Reacted to Her 400 Free Win in the Best Way

One of the best parts of watching swimming at the Olympics is seeing each athlete’s friends, family, team and coach react to their incredible performances. And boy, did we get a show last night!

Dean Boxall, who coaches Australian phenom Ariarne Titmus, went off after Titmus out-touched reigning gold medalist Katie Ledecky in the women’s 400-meter freestyle. We’ll let you see for yourself:

Hey, if we’d just coached a swimmer to gold, we’d be hyped too!

At just 20 years old, Titmus was expected to give Ledecky a run for her money. And she certainly delivered! Ledecky fought tooth and nail to maintain a lead for the first 300 meters, but Titmus surged ahead in the last 100, touching first in 3:56.69, about 0.3 off of the World Record. Ledecky finished close behind in 3:57.36 for silver.
