Day 7 of US Olympic Trials features races from all edges of the swimming spectrum. Morning prelims are relatively short, with just the men’s and women’s 50 free and the men’s 1500. During the evening session we’ll see finals in the men’s 100 fly, women’s 200 back and women’s 800 free, and semifinals in the men’s and women’s 50 free. With powerhouses in every event, there’s sure to be some epic competition.

Men’s 50 Freestyle Prelims

Caeleb Dressel (21.29), Michael Andrew (21.72) and Nathan Adrian (21.85) are in the top 3 spots heading into tonight’s semi’s. Dressel has looked strong throughout trials, and the 50 free was no exception. He’s over 0.4 ahead of Andrew after this morning’s swim! View results from the men’s 50 free prelims >

Women’s 50 Freestyle Prelims

100 free champ Abbey Weitzeil and Simone Manuel went 1-2 in prelims this morning, with just 0.06 separating their times (24.50 & 24.56, respectively). Torri Huske is in 3rd with a 24.61. Erika Brown (24.76), Kate Douglass (24.78) Kelsi Dahlia (24.98), Natalie Hinds (25.22) and Claire Curzan (25.24) join the squad for semi’s tonight. View results from the women’s 50 free prelims >

Men’s 1500 Freestyle Prelims

Bobby Finke and Michael Brinegar seem to be shoe ins for the #1 and #2 spots in tomorrow’s 1500 free final. Finke swam the fastest time in prelims, clocking in at 15:04.66, with Brinegar a few seconds behind in 15:07.93. Jordan Wilimovsky took 3rd about 7 seconds later, finishing in 15:14.67. Men’s 100 Butterfly Final

Caeleb Dressel and Tom Shields are headed to Tokyo in the 100 fly! Dressel finished first in the final, touching the wall in 49.87. Shields went out fast and held on, taking 2nd in 51.19. Luca Urlando swam a lifetime best, finishing 3rd with a 51.64. View results from the men’s 100 fly final >

Women’s 200 Backstroke Final

Regan Smith won’t swim the 200 backstroke in Tokyo — After stellar performances from Rhyan White (2:05.73) and Pheobe Bacon (2:06.46), Smith finished 3rd. White surged on the last 50 to overtake Smith, swimming a personal best by over a second. Bacon also swam a personal best, dropping about half a second. Women’s 800 Freestyle Final

Katie Ledecky secured a spot in the 800 free by a long shot, winning the event by about 6 seconds in 8:14.62. 15-year-old Katie Grimes took 2nd in 8:20.36, swimming in lane 8. She crushed her previous best time of 8:31.73 — that’s nearly 11 seconds dropped! View results from the women’s 800 free final >

Men’s 50 Freestyle Semifinal

Caeleb Dressel, Michael Andrew and Nathan Adrian kept the top 3 spots in semi’s, swimming 21.51, 21.55 and 21.78 respectively. Just 30 minutes after the 100 fly final, Dressel was looking fast, and got off the blocks quickly to take the lead early. View results from the men’s 50 free semifinal >

Women’s 50 Freestyle Semifinal

After a disappointing showing in the 100 free, Simone Manuel secured a spot in finals for the 50 free, sitting in 3rd with a 24.50. 100 free champ Abbey Weitzeil is the top seed going into tomorrow’s final with a 24.27. Number 2 seed Torri Huske will also put up a strong fight, swimming a 24.45 in semi’s. View results from the women’s 50 free semifinal >
