And it’s another individual gold medal for American Caeleb Dressel, this time in the men’s 50-meter freestyle. His time of 21.07 is a new Olympic record.

Dressel was off the blocks a bit slower than usual, but he was able to push to a solid lead by the last 10 meters. He was able to hold off defending medalist Florent Manaudou of France. In 21.55 Manaudou takes silver and Bruno Fratus of Brazil takes bronze with 21.57.

Dressel already has gold medals from the men’s 4×100 free relay, the 100 free and the 100 fly. He has one more chance at a medal in the men’s 4×100 medley relay tonight.

American Michael Andrew was just off the podium, finishing 4th
