Another Olympic record went down in Tokyo tonight; Zhang Yufei of China won the women’s 200-meter butterfly in 2:03.86.
Yufei was out like a rocket and it quickly became a race for silver and bronze. Americans Hali Flickinger and Regan Smith battled it out, with Smith touching second in 2:05.30, shaving a full second off of her best time. Flickinger took bronze in 2:05.65.
After winning silver in the 100-meter butterfly and a stellar showing in prelims and semis, Yufei was a contender, and boy, did she deliver!
